Barbette.
Some of the Will Work folks will be in a bit of retrospective show at Cafe Barbette in Minneapolis starting today. Good stuff. Not to be missed.
If you find yourself in the uptown area, please swing through and tip the crap out of your server after you eat some good food and stare at the walls for a bit. They're located at 1600 West Lake Street, on the corner of Lake and Irving, Minneapolis.
Good good things. Hope you all are well.

So whats happening???
Hello to everyone,
Here's an update as to whats been unfolding here at Will Work for food:
The Space has been cleared of the pile of debris, and we have rolled out a layer of primer on the wall. It's a very good start in regards to the work that needs to be done in preparation for the show. I will add a list of things that are still to come later. Thank you to everyone who contributed thus far. It's amazing to see how much you can we accomplish in such a short time when everybodies working together. For me, that's what this is really about.
We purchased Insurance for the event and we have been figuring out legal issues in regards to Beer and wine sale, etc. This has been a learning experience for me, but we'll work it out. Thank you Anne, Garth, Suzy and others who have helped and will help with this part of the show.
It had been talked about in some of our first meetings that we would feature bands on Sat. the 17th. However, at this point we are reconsidering having live music mostly because it escalulates the event to more of a "party" status. From the begining this has been an event with the primary interest of highlighting the artistic voice of the participants, and I want the event to leave a lasting impression on each viewer that passes through the door. With that being said, the event will be Dj'd, and we will post the name's of those people very soon..
Sponsors, SPONSOR's, SPONSORS! We are looking for sponsors. We've thrown out our nets and will be pulling them in by the end of the week. People have definitely shown interest and were just trying to tie up loose ends.
What's next? I would like to line up some dates in Feb. to:
A) fix walls, and paint final coat (maybe the weekend of 9th, 10th,11th?)
B) Work out all lighting and electrical stuff. We will be needing clamp lights to illuminate the space. Everybody has some, and if we could use them for the week it would be awesome! Also, for area's not lit by the clamp lights I think christmas lights strung up would look really good.
C) If we could all Meet at the space(2934 Lyndale) the last weekend in February, 2 weeks before the show, to make any last minute adjustments, and just so everyone can shake hands be all like, "hey cool, your artworks awesome, cheers lets go get a beer...."
D) Keep an eye out for couches and stuff we can bring in to furnish the front area.
If you have any questions, get at me. Im beeming with pride to have the oppurtunity to work with all of you.
Until next time, Dreww

Will Work For Food is a loosely knit collective of Minneapolis based artists who understand the importance of art and creativity in regards to building a strong and vibrant community. By working with realtors and property owners, we temporarily transform vacant storefronts into exciting and inspiring art events. It is through our promotion of the show that we advertise the availability of the space we are using, with hopes of finding a permanent tenant for the space. Our goal is to create a self-sustaining creative community by providing exhibition space for artist and musicians, while simultaneously working to develop the larger community as a whole. By doing this, the collective steps out of the traditional art institution environment and reestablishes a new experience that is mutually beneficial for the viewer, artist, property owners and community alike.
For the next Will Work For Food event we have organized a group of 20 artists working in painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and video. These are some of the most talented and dedicated artists in the Twin Cities, all of which are extremely excited to have the opportunity to show work together. We have secured the old Theater Antiques space for March 16th, 17th and 18th of 2007.
Confirmed artists include:
Eric Inkala, John Grider, Drew Peterson, Isaac Arvold, Ben Olson, Jennifer Davis, Keegan Wenkman, Adam Garcia, Garth Thompson-Viera, Aaron Wojack, Eric Carlson, Keiko Yagishita, Jeff Warner, Andrew MacDonald, David Petersen, Gabriel Combs, Poohki, and Jon Harris, with more artists TBA.
